How to Configure Image Settings in AWPCP

In this section of the guide to the Another WordPress Classifieds (AWPCP) plugin, we will review the Image Settings for the Ad.

For example, the following can be set:

  • Number of Thumbnail Images allowed per Ad.
  • Thumbnail Width and Height.
  • Should Images be Cropped, to name a few

Step 1) Login to the WordPress Dashboard.

Step 2) From the left-hand sidebar of the Dashboard, navigate to Classifieds -> Settings -> Images.

Thumbnail Settings

A. Number of columns of thumbnails to show in Show Ad page. From the dropdown list, select the maximum number of images to display per Ad on the Show Ad page.

Zero means there will be as many thumbnails as possible per row.

For this example, 2 was selected.

B. Thumbnail width Enter the thumbnail width. This will determine the width of the image.

For this example, the default value of 125 was not changed.

C. Thumbnail height Enter the thumbnail height. This will determine the height of the image.

For this example, the default value of 125 was not changed.

D. Crop thumbnail images? If checked, images will match exactly the dimensions in the settings above (125×125). However, part of the image may be cropped out.

If you decide to resize, image thumbnails will be resized to match the specified width and their height will be adjusted proportionally; depending on the uploaded images, thumbnails may have different heights.

For this example, this field was left checked.

If the fields were completed as shown above, they will display as follows:

Click the Save Settings button to save any changes.

Primary Image Settings

E. Thumbnail width (Ad Listings page) Enter the width of the thumbnail for the Primary Image shown in the Ad Listings view.

For this example, the default value of 80 was not changed.

F. Thumbnail width (Primary Image) Enter the width of the thumbnail for the Primary Image shown in the Single Ad view.

For this example, the default value of 200 was not changed.

G. Thumbnail height (Primary Image) Enter the height of the thumbnail for the Primary Image shown in the Single Ad view.

For this example, the default value of 200 was not changed.

H. Crop thumbnail images? If checked, images will match exactly the dimensions in the settings above. However, part of the image may be cropped out.

For this example, no changes were made.

Image File Settings

I. Uploads folder name When images are uploaded, a folder must be specified for the location of the images.

This folder must exist and be located in the wp-content directory.
Before continuing, please confirm the folder exists.

For this example, the default folder name of uploads was not changed.

J. File permissions for uploads directory From the dropdown list, select the File Permissions applied to the uploads directory and sub-directories so that the plugin is allowed to write to those directories.

Below is an example when the 0755 File Permissions is selected:

For this example, no change was made.

K. Maximum file size per image Enter the maximum size (in bytes) for files a user can upload to system. Click here to get an accurate conversion.

For this example, the default value of 1048576 was not changed.

L. Minimum file size per image Enter the minimum size (in bytes) for files a user can upload to system. Click here to get an accurate conversion.
M. Minimum image width Enter the minimum width for images.

For this example, the default value of 640 was not changed.

N. Minimum image height Enter the minimum height for images.

For this example, the default value of 480 was not changed.

O. Maximum image width Enter the maximum width for images. Images wider than the value entered in this field are automatically resized upon upload.

For this example, the default value of 640 was not changed.

P. Maximum image height Enter the maximum height for images. Images taller than the value entered in this field are automatically resized upon upload.

For this example, the default value of 480 was not changed.

For this example, no changes were made.

Click the Save Settings button to save any changes.

Image Settings

Q. Allow images in Ads? If checked, this option allows images in Ads (both free and pay mode).

For this example, this field was left checked.

R. Hide images until admin approves them If checked, no images will display in an Ad until they are approved by the Administrator (recommended).

For this example, this field was checked.

S. Disable AWPCP Lightbox feature If checked, the lightbox/thickbox is turned off. Some themes cannot handle it and a conflict results.

For this example, the field was left unchecked.

T. Show click to enlarge link? If checked, the user can click to enlarge the pictures.

For this example, this field was left checked.

U. Number of images allowed in Free mode To restrict the number of images allowed in Free Mode, enter that value in the textbox.

For this example, the default value of 4 was not changed.

If the fields were completed as shown above, they will display as follows:

Click the Save Settings button to save any changes.
