The next step of the guide to bbPress will focus on creating new topics for your forums.

Step 1) Login to the WordPress Dashboard.

Step 2) Click on Topics on the left-hand sidebar of the Dashboard, before clicking on New Topic to open a new topic page.

Create New Topic

Step 3) On the Create New Topic page, you can create your post in a similar way to creating a blog post on WordPress. You have all the same features – from creating a title/headline and then writing the content below, using a range of options from formatting (including headers, bullets and numbering, bold, italic, underline and text colour).

Adding a Topic Post

Step 4) When you have added all of your content, the next step is to prepare your Topic post for publishing. Firstly, head to the Topic Attributes section. From here, you can choose what type of Topic (Normal, Sticky, Super Sticky – the more sticky, the more the post will appear at the top of the topic), the status of the Topic post (open, closed, spam, pending review, etc.) and choose which forum is the parent for the Topic.

Step 5) Topic Tags are designed for users to better target their Topic posts so that other users can search for them. You can create your own tags or click on the Choose from the most used tags link to open a dropdown that features all the most-used tags. Simply click on these and they are added to the tags in your post.

Step 6) When you have chosen your Topic Attributes and Tags, the final step is to decide when to publish. You can also choose to make your post private or public (useful if you want to review it later) and then publish or schedule your Topic post.
