How can I Enable Custom Permalinks in WordPress with WAMP?

In this guide we’ll be explaining how you can enable custom Permalinks on your WAMP powered WordPress install.

How can I Enable Custom Permalinks in WordPress with WAMP?

In WordPress, the default permalink is domain.com/?p=123, anything else is deemed custom, be it the day and name, month and name, numeric, or postname which is also known as “pretty permalink.” In order for WAMP, and indeed, any Apache server, to be able to display posts on custom permalinks, it needs to have rewrite module enabled, here’s how to do this in WAMP.

Step 1) Start WAMP if it is not already open.

Step 2) Click on the WAMP icon in the task bar, then Apache, Apache Modules, and scroll down until you see rewrite_module, then click on it.

WAMP will now restart Apache and you’ll be able to use the custom permalink structure of your choice straight away.
