How to Configure the List Tuning Options of Contextual Related Posts
The third step in the guide to the Contextual Related Posts WordPress plugin will show you to tune what posts are actually displayed.
Step 1) Login to the WordPress Dashboard.
Step 2) From the Admin Panel, click on Settings >> Related Posts. On the toolbar at the top of the page, click on List Tuning Options.
Step 3) The first step is choosing the number of related posts to display underneath your posts. The default is 6.
Step 4) You can use the Related posts should be newer than section to set the number of days that related posts can be reached back to. The default is 1095 days, but you can set it to anything you like. Set it to zero to disable this feature.
Step 5) If you wish for related posts to be based on content as well as title, tick the box marked so. If unchecked, only post titles will be used as the criteria.
Step 6) The Limit content to be compared option is used to set the maximum amount of words that will be used to match related posts. Set this as zero if you don’t want to set a limit.
Step 7) The Post types to include in results are split into Post, Page and Attachment. If you have created custom post types, they will also show in this section.
Step 8) If you wish to exclude page IDs and/or categories from results, enter the post/page/custom post type IDs and category slugs into their respective boxes to exclude them from results. Hit Save Options at the end.
The next step in the guide will focus on the Output Options of the plugin.
