How to Configure the WP Rocket Basic Options: Minification, Concatenation, and More

In this section of the guide to the WP Rocket plugin, we will show you how to configure the Basic Options which include Lazyload and File Optimization.

Step 1) Login to the WordPress Dashboard.

Step 2) From the left-hand sidebar of the Dashboard, navigate to Settings -> WP Rocket -> Basic Options.

Step 3) Complete the fields as outlined below:

A. Lazyload Place a checkmark in the checkbox to Enable Lazy loading images.

LazyLoad displays images on a page only when they are visible to the user. This option reduces the number of HTTP requests and improves the page load time.

B. Files optimisation:
(Minification & Concatenation)
Place checkmarks in the checkboxes to enable Minification & Concatenation for:

  • HTML
  • Google Fonts
  • CSS
  • JS

Minification removes any spaces and comments present in the CSS and JavaScript files. This option reduces the weight of each file and allows for a faster reading of browsers and search engines.

Concatenation combines all CSS and JavaScript files. This option reduces the number of HTTP requests and improves the loading time.

Concatenating files may cause display errors.

In case of any errors we recommend you turn off this option and watch this video.

C. Mobile cache Place a checkmark in the checkbox to Enable caching for mobile devices.

Don’t turn on this option if you use one of these plugins:

D. Logged in user cache Place a checkmark in the checkbox to Enable logged in user cache.
E. SSL cache Place a checkmark in the checkbox to Enable caching for pages with SSL protocol (https://).
F. Clear Cache Lifespan From the dropdown box, select a Clear Cache option.

Click the Up and Down arrows to set the number of seconds/minutes/hours/days.

The default value is 24 Hour(s).

Step 4) Click the Save Changes button to save any changes.
