Configuring Easy Social Share Buttons – Counter Display Options

In this section of the guide to the Easy Social Share Buttons plugin, we will look at Counter Display Options.

Step 1) Login to the WordPress Dashboard.

Step 2) On the left-hand sidebar of the Dashboard, click Easy Social Share Buttons to display the Main Settings tab.

Step 3) Click the Display Settings tab.

Step 4) Scroll down until you see the Counters area and click to select.

Button Counters

Step 5) Complete the fields as outlined below:

A. Display counter of sharing This option is automatically activated. Click No to disable this option.

For this field, the default value of Yes was not changed.

B. Position of counters From the dropdown list, select the appropriate counter position. The graphics displayed here show you where the counter will display based on selection.

For this example, Right was selected.

C. Cache internal counters (Mail, Print, Love and no API counters) On high traffic sites it is suggested that this option remain activated if you are using the mail, print or love buttons.

Enter a value in the textbox that will cache counters loaded with this call for amount of seconds entered.

For this example, this field was checked and a value of 5 was entered in the textbox.

D. Activate internal counters for all networks that do not support API count Place a checkmark in this checkbox for all networks that do not have access to the API counter functions.

For this example, this field was left unchecked.

E. Load counters with build-in WordPress AJAX functions (using admin-ajax) Place a checkmark in this checkbox if you want to display the total count (share count is displayed by default).

Enter a value in the textbox that will reduce external calls to APIs and will increase speed load.

For this example, this field was checked and a value of 5 was entered in the textbox.

F. Display Facebook Total Count This option is activated by default and is recommended. To disable this option, remove the checkmark from this checkbox.

For this example, this field was left checked.

G. Display button counter after this value of shares is reached You can hide your button counter until a specified amount of shares is reached. For example, 200.

This option is active only when you enter a value in the textbox. If no value is entered, then the button counter always displays.

For this example, this field was left blank.

Step 6) Click the Update Settings button to save any changes.

Total Counter

H. Hide total counter when display counter of sharing is active Place a checkmark in this checkbox to hide the total counter when counters are active.

For this example, this field was left unchecked.

I. Position of total counter From the dropdown list, select the appropriate Total Counter position.

For this example, the default value of Right was not changed.

J. Append text to total counter when big number styles are active This option allows you to add custom text below counter when big number styles are active. For example you can add text shares.

For this example, the default values were not changed.

K. Before/after social share buttons counter text Enter text in the text area that you want displayed before/ater the share buttons. To display the total share number use the string {TOTAL} in text. Example: {TOTAL} users share us.

For this example, this field was left blank.

L. Display total counter after this value of shares is reached To activate this option, enter a value where the Total Counter will display after the entered value has been reached. For example, 200.

For this example, this field was left blank.

Step 7) Click the Update Settings button to save any changes.
