Configuring Easy Social Share Buttons – Behavioral Options

In this section of the guide to the Easy Social Share Buttons plugin, we will look at how to setup the Administrative Options!

Step 1) Login to the WordPress Dashboard.

Step 2) On the left-hand sidebar of the Dashboard, click Easy Social Share Buttons to display the Main Settings tab.

Step 3) Scroll down until you see the Administrative Options area and click to select.

Step 4) Complete the fields as outlined below:

A. Disable menu in WordPress admin bar Place a checkmark in this checkbox to remove the Easy Social Buttons link from the top menubar. If you activate this option, you will need to refresh the page to see this change.

B. Move plugin options under settings menu Place a checkmark in this checkbox to move the Easy Social Share Buttons Menu below the Settings menu. If you activate this option, you will need to refresh the page to see this change.

C. Turn off Easy Social Share Buttons Advanced settings Place a checkmark in this checkbox to disable Advanced Settings.

For this example, this field was left unchecked.

D. I am using Google Analytics for WordPress by Yoast By default this field is checked. We recommend installing this plugin. If you do not have this plugin installed, click here to download.

For this example, this field was left checked.

E. Avoid <!– nextpage –> and always share main post address Place a checkmark in this checkbox to activate this option.

For this example, this field was checked.

F. Clean buttons from excerpts Place a checkmark in this checkbox to avoid buttons included in excerpts as text Facebook, Twiiter etc.

For this example, this field was checked.

G. Clean buttons method If Clean Buttons from Excerpts was activated, then select a Clean Buttons Method from the dropdown list.

For this example, Clean Network Text was selected.

H. Force get of current post/page Place a checkmark in this checkbox if Share does not get the correct page.

For this example, this field was left unchecked.

I. Change default priority of buttons Enter a custom value of priority when buttons will be included in content (default is 10). This will make the plugin code execute before or after another plugin.

Providing an incorrect value in this textbox may cause buttons not to display.

For this example, this field was left blank.

J. Force share of post/page address with query parameters Place a checkmark in this checkbox if you use query string parameters with your url and want the plugin to share the full url with them (not only permalink).

For this example, this field was left unchecked.

K. Fix counter problem with limited cURL configuration Place a checkmark in this checkbox if you are having difficulty displaying counters for networks that do not have native access to counter API (ex: Google).

In order to make this option work you may also need to activate the option in Display Settings -> Counters to load with the WordPress Admin Ajax Function.

For this example, this field was left unchecked.

L. Do not load FontAwsome Place a checkmark in this checkbox if you site is already using FontAwesome.

For this example, this field was left unchecked.

M. Deactivate short url cache Place a checkmark in this checkbox to avoid cache of short url.

For this example, this field was left unchecked.

N. Make plugin share always http version of page Place a checkmark in this checkbox if you migrate from http to https.

In this case all social share counters will go down to zero (0) because social networks count shares by the unique address of post/page. Activating this option will allow the plugin to use the post/page http version of the address.

Step 5) Click the Update Settings button to save any changes.

Turn off build in modules

In this area you can turn off built-in modules that you do not use. This will increase the plugin’s performance. You can turn these modules on at any time.

Step 6) Place a checkmark in the Turn off Social Fans Counter checkbox and/or the Turn off Love This checkbox to activate these options. For this example, the fields were left unchecked.

Step 7) Click the Update Settings button to save any changes.

Reset configuration to default values

Step 8) Click the I want to reset configuration to default plugin values button if you want to reset the plugin’s default configuration.

Clicking this button will restore the initial plugin configuration values and all settings you applied after the plugin was activated will be removed.

Step 9) Click the Update Settings button to save any changes.
