Configuring Easy Social Share Buttons – Like, Follow, and Subscribe Buttons

In this section of the guide to the Easy Social Share Buttons plugin, we will look at how to setup Social Like, Follow and Subscribe Buttons for Facebook and Twitter.

Step 1) Login to the WordPress Dashboard.

Step 2) On the left-hand sidebar of the Dashboard, click Easy Social Share Buttons to display the Main Settings tab.

Step 3) Scroll down until you see the Social Like, Follow and Subscribe Buttons area and click to select.

Step 4) Complete the fields as outlined below:

A. Display on same line Place a checkmark in this checkbox to display native social network buttons on the same line as the share buttons.

For this example, this field was checked.

B. Apply native buttons skin Place a checkmark in this checkbox to hide native buttons inside nice flat style boxes and display them on hover.

For this example, this field was checked.

C. Native buttons skin If you selected Native Buttons above, then from the dropdown list, select either Flat or Metro as the Native Buttons Skin.

For this example, Flat was selected.

D. Display counters for native buttons Place a checkmark in this checkbox to display counters for native buttons.

For this example, this field was checked.

E. Drag and Drop change position of display Drag and drop these buttons to change the display order.

For this example, Twitter was moved to the right of Facebook.

F. Activate social privacy Place a checkmark in this checkbox to activate Social Privacy. Social Privacy is not compatible with cache plugins.

For this example, this field was unchecked.

Step 5) Click the Update Settings button to save any changes.

We recommend spending spme time selecting different options to see which selections work best for your site.

Social Like, Follow and Subscribe Buttons

Each of the following areas are basically set up the same way.

  • Facebook Like/Follow Button
  • Google +1/Follow Button
  • VKontankte (vk.com) Like
  • Twitter Tweet/Follow
  • YouTube Subscribe
  • Pinterest Follow/Pin
  • LikendIn Company Follow
  • ManagedWP.org Upvote Button

For this example, we will show yow to set up the Facebook Like/Follow Button section.

Step 6) Complete the fields as outlined below:

G. Facebook Like/Follow Button Place a checkmark in the Include Facebook Like/Follow Button checkbox to display the Like or Follow button on your posts/pages.

Place a checkmark in the My site already uses Facebook API checkbox, if applicable.

Place a checkmark in the Load Facebook API asynchronous checkbox, if applicable.

If you are experiencing issues with the buttons not rendering correctly, you may want to enter the width, height and top margin in the appropriate textboxes.

For this example, the Include Facebook Like/Follow Button checkbox was checked.

H. Facebook Like/Follow button type From the dropdown list, select which button type you want to display on your posts/pages – Like or Follow.

For this example, Like was selected.

I. Facebook Follow Profile Page URL Enter the full URL to your Facebook Profile Page.

For this example, https://www.facebook.com/katmandu343 was entered.

Skinned button text color replace
To change colors for the Button or Text, perform the following steps:

  • Click the Select Color button to display a Color Selector pop-up window.

  • Click any button on the bottom row.

  • Click and drag the circle until you achieve the desired color.

  • You can also entered a Hex value in the textbox.

  • Click anywhere outside the pop-up window to confirm your color selection and close the pop-up.

Skinned button text replace
To change the Skinned button width enter the value (without px at the end) in the appropriate textbox. For example, 110.

To replace the Skinned button text, enter the text in the appropriate textbox.

For this example, no changes were made.

To replace the Privacy button text, enter the text in the appropriate textbox.

To change the Privacy button width enter the value (without px at the end) in the appropriate textbox. For example, 110.

For this example, no changes were made.

Step 7) Click the Update Settings button to save any changes.

Step 8) Repeat the above process for the remainder of the Social Networks you want to setup.

Activate Custom Like Address

Step 9) Place a checkmark in the Activate Custom Like Address checkbox if you want to send a different address for native social network buttons to like. If you have activated Custom Share Message, this will overwrite the address you send from Custom Share Message options, but only for social network native buttons.

Step 10) Enter a URL in the Address for Facebook Like Button textbox to the page you want people to Like. For example, your Facebook Fan Page.

Step 11) Enter a URL in the Address for Google +1 Button textbox to the page you want people to Like. For example, your Google +1 Page.

Step 12) Click the Update Settings button to save any changes.
