Configuring Easy Social Share Buttons – How to Setup Social Share Analytics

In this section of the guide to the Easy Social Share Buttons plugin, we will look at how to setup the Social Share Analytics.

Step 1) Login to the WordPress Dashboard.

Step 2) On the left-hand sidebar of the Dashboard, click Easy Social Share Buttons to display the Main Settings tab.

Step 3) Scroll down until you see the Social Share Analytics area and click to select.

Click Log and Statistics & Google Analytics Tracking

Step 4) Complete the remainder of the fields as outlined below:

A. Activate Statistics Place a checkmark in the Activate Statistics checkbox if you want to manage the click on Share buttons as well as view user activity details.

For this example, this field was checked.

B. Activate Google Analytics Tracking Place a checkmark in this checkbox to activate tracking of Social Share Button Clicks using Google Analytics.

This option requires Google Analytics be active on your site.
Click here to create a Google Analytics Account.

For this example, this field was checked.

C. Google Analytics Tracking Method From the dropdown list, select either the Simple or Extended Tracking Method.

Selecting Simple will track clicks by social networks.

Selecting Extended will track clicks on separate social networks by button display position.

For this example, Extended was selected.

D. Add Custom Campaign parameters to your URLs Paste your custom campaign parameters in this field and they will be automatically added to shared addresses on Social Networks.

Click here for details on how to add Custom Campaign parameters to your URLs.

Use this with caution as this may not be compatible with Active Social Share Counters as they will reset the counter to zero.

Step 5) Click the Update Settings button to save any changes.
