Configuring Easy Social Share Buttons – Network and Display Setup

In this section of the guide to the Easy Social Share Buttons plugin, we will show you how to select your Social Share Networks, Button Width and Button Position.

For this guide, Facebook and Twitter will be setup.

Step 1) Login to the WordPress Dashboard.

Step 2) On the left-hand sidebar of the Dashboard, click Easy Social Share Buttons to display the Main Settings tab.

Step 3) Scroll down until you see the Social Share Buttons area and click to select.

Share Buttons

Step 4) Place a checkmark in each checkbox located to the left of each Social Network you want to appear in your list.

For this example the following Share Buttons were selected:

  • Share on Facebook
  • Share on Twitter
To re-arrange the icons, drag and drop the icon to a new location.

Step 5) If you selected More above, select a More button function type from the dropdown list to determine how the More button functions.

For this example, no change was made..

Step 6) Select how the buttons will be aligned from the Buttons Align dropdown list. The default position is Left.

For this example, the default position of Left was selected.

Step 7) Click the Update Settings button to save any changes.

Additional Display Options

Full Width Share Buttons

Step 8) If you want to display Full Width Share Buttons, complete the fields as outlined below:

A. Full width share buttons Place a checkmark in this checkbox if you want the buttons to take the Full Width of your post content area.

For this example, this field was checked.

B. Full width share buttons width correction (number) Enter a value for to set a custom width for a single button when Full Width is active. This value is in percents (without the % symbol).

For this example, this field was left blank.

C. Full width share buttons width correction mobile (number) Enter a value to set a custom width for a single button when Full Width is active for mobile display. This value is in percents (without the % symbol).

For this example, this field was left blank.

D. Max width of buttons in full width display mode Enter a value if you want to display the total counter along with the Full Width share buttons. This value is in percents (without the % symbol). Leave this field blank for a default value of 100 (100%).

For this example, this field was left blank.

Step 9) Click the Update Settings button to save any changes.

Fixed Width Share Buttons

Step 10) If you want to display Fixed Width Share Buttons, complete the fields as outlined below:

E. Fixed width share buttons Place a checkmark in this checkbox to activate the Fixed Width of share buttons.

For this example, this field was not checked.

F. Fixed width share buttons width Enter a value to set a custom width for the button in pixels (without the px symbol).

For this example, this field was left blank.

G. Choose alignment of network name From the dropdown list, select an alignment option.

For this example, no change was made.

Step 11) Click the Update Settings button to save any changes.

Twitter Additional Options

Step 12) If you have selected Twitter as one of your Social Networks, complete the fields as outlined below:

H. Twitter share short url This checkbox is checked by default and is recommended in order to share short urls with Twitter.

For this example, this field was left checked.

I. Short URL service From the dropdown list, select an option for the Short URL Service.

The available options are:

  • wp_get_shortlink
  • goo.gl
  • bit.ly

For this example, wp_get_shortlink was selected.

J. Twitter username to be mentioned Enter your username if you want a twitter username to be mentioned in tweets. Enter your username (without the @ sysmbol).

This text will be appended to the end of tweet messages.

For this example, katmandu4831 was entered.

K. Add Twitter username to buffer shares Place a checkmark in this checkbox to append the Twitter username into Buffer shares.

For this example, this field was left unchecked.

L. Twitter hashtags to be added If you want hashtags to be added to messages, enter them here. You can enter one or more hashtags in this textbox (separate with commas).

For this example, this field was left blank.

M. Don’t use popup window for Tweeter Share Place a checkmark in this checkbox if you are experiencing an issue with the Twitter Share Buttons opening in the same window but not in a share a tweet window.

For this example, this field was left unchecked.

N. Make Twitter always count full post/page address when using shorturl Place a checkmark in this checkbox if you always want to count the full post/page address when using a shorturl.

For this example, this field was checked.

Step 13) Click the Update Settings button to save any changes.

Facebook Additional Options

Step 14) If you have selected Facebook as one of your Social Networks, complete the fields as outlined below:

O. Use Facebook Advanced Sharing Place a checkmark in this checkbox if you want to enable custom share messages.

If this option is selected, you will need to have a Facebook Application as well as a Facebook Application ID. If you do not have a Facebook Application ID, click here to create one.

For this example, this field was checked.

P. Facebook Application ID In order for the Advanced Facebook Application to work, enter your Facebook ID here. If you do not have a Facebook Application ID, click here to create one.

For this example, an Facebook Application ID was entered.

Q. Display Facebook Total Count Place a checkmark in this checkbox if you want to display Total Count in addition to Share Count.

For this example, this field was checked.

Step 15) Click the Update Settings button to save any changes.

Flattr, StumpleUpon, Print and WhatsApp Additional Options

Step 16) If you have selected to display Flattr, StumpleUpon or Print complete the appropriate fields as outlined below:

R. Flattr Username Enter the Flattr account to which the buttons will be assigned.
S. Additional tags for your posts Enter a list of additional tags to use (separate tags with commas) in Flattr buttons.
T. Default category for your posts Select a Category Type for your posts.

The available options are:

  • text
  • images
  • audio
  • video
  • software
  • rest
U. Default language for your posts Select the default language for your posts from the dropdown list.
V. Do not generate shortlinks Place a checkmark in this checkbox if you do not want StumpleUpon to generate shortlinks.
W. Use the printfriendly.com service instead of default print function Place a checkmark in this checkbox to activate this option.
X. WhatsApp share short url Place a checkmark in this checkbox to activate the option to share short url with WhatsApp.
Y. WhatsApp Short URL service Select an option from the dropdown list for the Short URL Service.

The available options are:

  • wp_get_shortlink
  • goo.gl
  • bit.ly

Step 17) Click the Update Settings button to save any changes.
