Configuring Easy Social Share Shortcode Generator – [easy-social-share]

In this section of the guide to the Easy Social Share Buttons plugin, we will look at the Shortcode Generator for Social Share buttons.

This area has 4 different Shortcodes available. For this example, we will be using the first Shortcode.

Step 1) Login to the WordPress Dashboard.

Step 2) On the left-hand sidebar of the Dashboard, click Easy Social Share Buttons to display the Main Settings tab.

Step 3) Click the Shortcode Generator tab to display the easy-social-share Shortcode area.

Step 4) Scroll down until you see the easy-social-share Shortcode area and click to select.

Social Share Buttons

This Shortcode is used to display Social Share buttons.

Step 5) To generate this Shortcode, complete the fields as outlined below:

A. Social Networks Place checkmarks to the left of each checkbox for the Social Networks you want to add to the Shortcode.

If you want to include only the Native Social Buttons do not select any options here.

For this example, Share on Facebook and Share on Twitter were selected.

B. More button function If you have selected the More Button function, please select an option from the dropdown list.

For this example, this field was left blank.

Counters & Button Style

C. Include Counters Place a checkmark in this checkbox to include Counters with this Shortcode.

For this example, this field was checked.

D. Counter position From the dropdown list, select a new Counter Position, or leave the default value of Default Counter Position. The default value will use the Counter Position assigned in Display Settings -> Counters.

For this example, Default Counter Position was not changed.

E. Total counter position From the dropdown list, select a new Total Counter Position, or leave the default value of Default Counter Position. The default value will use the Total Counter Position assigned in Display Settings -> Counters.

For this example, the default value was not changed.

F. Hide network name From the dropdown list, select an option on whether to hide the Network Name.

For this example, Do not hide Network Names was selected.

G. Display message above buttons Place a checkmark in this checkbox if you want a message to display above the buttons. This option will not work if the Message Above Buttons option was not selected and setup in Display Settings -> Message Above Buttons.

For this example, this field was not checked.

H. Template From the dropdown list, select a new Template, or leave the default value of Default Template from Settings. The default value will use the settings assigned in Main Settings -> Template.

For this example, the default value was not changed.

I. Activate full width share buttons Place a checkmark in this checkbox to activate Full Width Share Buttons.

For this example, this field was checked.

J. Single element width correction If necessary, enter an adjustment value in this textbox. For example, a value between 1-100.

For this example, this field was left blank.

K. Activate fixed width share buttons Place a checkmark in t his checkbox to activate Fixed Width Share Buttons.

For this example, this field was left unchecked.

L. Single button width If Fixed Width was selected, you can enter a set width for the buttons. For example, 130 (without the px symbol).

For this example, this field was left blank.

M. Choose alignment of network name when fixed width is used If Fixed With was activated, select an alignment from the dropdown list.

For this example, no change was made.

Customize Shared Message

N. Share URL Enter a custom share URL. If this field is left blank, the page/post address where the buttons are displayed will be used.

For this example, this field was left blank.

O. Share Message Enter a custom share message. If this field is left blank, the page/post title where the buttons are displayed will be used.

For this example, this field was left blank.

Additional Display Options

P. Display social buttons as sidebar Place a checkmark in this checkbox to display the social buttons as a sidebar.

For this example, this field was left unchecked.

Q. Choose sidebar position From the dropdown list, select a Sidebar Position.

For this example, no selection was made.

R. Display social buttons as popup Place a checkmark in this checkbox to display the social buttons as a popup.

For this example, this field was left unchecked.

S. Display popup window after about of seconds Enter a value for the number of seconds to elapse before the popup window is displayed. For example, 6.

For this example, this field was left blank.

T. Display social buttons as float from top Place a checkmark in this checkbox to display the social buttons as a float from top.

For this example, this field was left unchecked.

U. Display social buttons as post vertical float Place a checkmark in this checkbox to display the social buttons as a vertical float.

For this example, this field was left unchecked.

V. Hide this shortcode display on mobile devices Place a checkmark in this checkbox to hide this Shortcode on mobile devices.

For this example, this field was left unchecked.

W. Display shortcode only on mobile devices Place a checkmark in this checkbox to display this Shortcode only on mobile devices.

For this example, this field was left unchecked.

Social Share Button Texts

Enter new text for a Share Button to the left of each Social Network as needed.

For this example, no changes were made.

Generate Shortcode

Step 6) Click the Generate Shortcode button to generate a shortcode encompassing the options selected above.

Once the Shortcode has been generated, the following screen will display showing you how to implement this Shortcode.

Step 7) Enter this Shortcode into a page/post on your site.
