How to Create a Contact Form with Contact Form 7

In this tutorial we will run through creating a contact form with Contact Form 7.

Step 1) Log in to the WordPress Dashboard.

Step 2) Install and activate Contact Form 7.

Step 3) Click the new item, Contact, in the left hand menu. This will take you through to the Contact Form 7 settings page.

Contact Form 7 comes with a prebuilt contact form for you to use, to use it, you can copy the shortcode provided on this screen and paste it into any post or page you like.

Step 4) Click on “Contact form 1” which will take you through to the contact form editor. Here you can edit the HTML around the short codes (defined by [square brackets]), move fields around, change the responses provided to the form submitter, and more.

While here, copy the form shortcode from the top of the page.

Step 5) Edit a post or page you’d like your contact form on, commonly the about page, paste in the contact form’s shortcode and update/publish the post/page.

Step 6) Check the contact form to make sure it displays correctly and is functional. Using Contact Form 7 with the TwentyThirteen theme will make it display like so.
