How to Configure the Events Calendar General Settings
In this section of the guide, we will take you through the process of configuring the general settings of The Events Calendar WordPress Plugin.
Step 1) Login to the WordPress Dashboard.
Step 2) On the left-hand side of the Dashboard, click on Plugins. This will take you to the Installed Plugins page.
Step 3) On the Installed Plugins page, scroll down until you find The Events Calendar and hit Settings.
Step 4) On the Settings page, you have three separate pages, one for General, one for Display and a Help option for support from Modern Tribe, the creators of the Theme. The opening options on General are whether you want to take a look at your calendar, install additional add-ons (including Recurring Events, custom meta and more) and whether you are going to include a link back to Modern Tribe as a thank you for the theme.
Step 5) The General settings are designed to improve the functionality of your events calendar. You can choose to allow and display comments on your calendar (from where users have written comments on the events pages) and how many events to show per page, include events in your main blog loop, choose the currency that the price of your events will be in, change the slug of your URL for easy sharing of your calendar across social media and the web.
Step 6) The Map Settings option allows you to include or exclude Google Maps from your calendar. You can also change the Default Zoom Level. It will be automatically at 10, but you zoom-in up to a max of 21 and zoom-out to a minimum of 0.
Step 7) On the Misc. Settings section, the option is available for you to Merge Duplicates. This will combine all repetitions of Venues and Organisers into single entries, which in turn can be saved and used for future events on your calendar. Also, the Debug Mode should only be enabled if you know what you are looking for when checking the plugins code for errors.
