Configuring Payment Options and Gateways in MarketPress eCommerce

In this section of the guide to the MarketPress eCommerce plugin, we will take a look at the different options available for receiving Payments from your online store.

Step 1) Login to the WordPress Dashboard.

Step 2) On the left-hand sidebar of the Dashboard navigate to Products -> Store Settings -> Payments.

Depending on your Payment selection, this screen will display additional fields as follows:

  • Manual Payments

    This area shows you have to record payments manually, such as Cash, Check, or EFT.

    The Editors displayed below allow you to format your text by changing the font color, font size, add images and much more!

    A. Select Payment Gateway(s) To select Manual Payments, place a check mark in the Manual Payments check box.

    Once a check mark is placed in this check box, the screen will expand to display the Manual Payment Settings area.

    B. Method Name Enter a public name for this payment method that will be displayed to users. The default value is Manual Payment.

    C. User Instructions These are the manual payment instructions that will display on the Payments screen for the user.

    D. Confirmation User Instructions These are the manual payment instructions to display on the Confirmation User Instructions screen.

    You can further customize these instructions by adding additional Special Codes inside the Text editor as shown below:

    • (CUSTOMERNAME)
    • (ORDERID)
    • (ORDERINFO)
    • (SHIPPINGINFO)
    • (PAYMENTINFO)
    • (TOTAL)
    • (TRACKINGURL)
    • (ORDERNOTES)

    Note: HTML tags are allowed..

    E. Order Confirmation Email This is the email text to send to those who have made manual payment checkouts. You should include your manual payment instructions here. It overrides the default Order Checkout email.

    You can further customize these instructions by adding additional Special Codes inside the Text editor as shown below:

    • (CUSTOMERNAME)
    • (ORDERID)
    • (ORDERINFO)
    • (SHIPPINGINFO)
    • (PAYMENTINFO)
    • (TOTAL)
    • (TRACKINGURL)

  • Click the Save Settings button to save your changes.

  • PayPal Express Checkout Settings

    Express Checkout is PayPal’s premier checkout solution, which streamlines the checkout process for buyers and keeps them on your site after making a purchase. Unlike PayPal Pro, there are no additional fees to use Express Checkout.

    F. Select Payment Gateway(s) To select PayPal Express Checkout, place a check mark in the PayPal Express Checkout check box.

    Once a check mark is placed in this check box, the screen will expand to display the PayPal Express Checkout Settings area.

    G. PayPal Site>

    Select a Country from the dropdown list where you will be processing the payments from. The default value is United States.
    H. Paypal Currency Select a Currency from the dropdown list that the purchases will be paid to you in. The default value is USD – U.S. Dollars.
    I. PayPal Mode Selecting Sandbox is used while you are testing your online store (no payments are processed). Once you select Live, any payments will be processed.
    J. PayPal API Credentials In order to process payments, PayPal requires the fields shown below be completed. If you do not know this information, click here for instructions.
    K. PayPal Header Image Enter the URL for an image you want to appear at the top left of the payment page. The image has a maximum size of 750 pixels wide by 90 pixels high. PayPal recommends that you provide an image that is stored on a secure (https) server. If you do not specify an image, the business name is displayed.
    L. PayPal Header Border Color Enter the border color (hex value) for the header of the payment page. The border is a 2-pixel perimeter around the header space, which is 750 pixels wide by 90 pixels high. The default value is black (#000000). Click here to locate additional hex colors.
    M. PayPal Header Background Enter the background color for the header of the payment page. The default value is white (#FFFFFF). Click here to locate additional hex colors.
    N. PayPal Page Background Enter the background color for the payment page. By default, the color is white (#FFFFFF). Click here to locate additional hex colors.

    Click the Save Settings button to save your changes.

  • Simplify Commerce by MasterCard

    Simplify helps merchants to accept online payments from MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover, JCB and Diners Club cards. Simplify only supports USD Currency.

    O. Select Payment Gateway(s) To select Simplify Commerce by MasterCard, place a check mark in the Simplify Commerce by MasterCard check box.

    Once a check mark is placed in this check box, the screen will expand to display the Simplify Commerce by MasterCard Settings area.

    P. Simplify API Credentials To get your Credentials, you will need to create a Simplify Account. Once you have these credentials, enter them in the appropriate text boxes below.
    Q. Simplify SSL Mode From the dropdown list select an SSL Mode. When in live mode, although it is not required, Simplify recommends you have an SSL certificate.

    Click the Save Settings button to save your changes.
