Adding Users and Assigning Users to Roles in Members
In this section of the guide to the Members plugin, we will show you how to add a new user and assign this user to a role.
Step 1) Login to the WordPress Dashboard.
Step 2) From the left-hand sidebar of the Dashboard navigate to Users -> Add New.
For this example, a new User, Brad Smith will be created and assigned to the Quality Control role.
Step 3) Complete the fields as outlined below:
|A.||Username||Enter a unique username. This is a required field.
For this example, bsmith is entered.
|B.||Enter an E-mail Address for Brad. This is a required field.
For this example, firstname.lastname@example.org was entered.
|C.||First Name||Enter the First Name of the User.
For this example, Brad was entered.
|D.||Last Name||Enter the Last Name of the User.
For this example, Smith was entered.
|E.||Website||If the User has a website, enter the URL here.
For this example, this field was left blank.
|Enter and re-enter a password.
Pay attention to the Strength Indicator once the password is entered.
We recommend a Strong Password to keep your account safe.
|H.||Send Password?||Place a checkmark in this checkbox if you want to email the password to the email address entered above. For this example, this checkbox was left unchecked.|
|I.||Role||From the Role dropdown list, select a Role to assign this user to.
For this example, the Role, Quality Control was selected.
If the fields were completed as outlined above, your page should now display as follows:
Step 4) Click the Add New User button to complete this process and be forwarded to the Users area.
The new User, Brad Smith is now visible in the Users list.
