In this article we will show you how to use Imsanity to resize the images in your Media Library in bulk, altering them throughout your website and setting the size for all images uploaded from then now.

Please note: For this article you will need to install the Imsanity plugin.

Step 1) Login to the WordPress Dashboard.

Step 2) On your admin panel, click on Settings >> Imsanity.

1

Step 3) On the Imsanity settings page, you can fit an image to a specific pixel width x height ratio. Simply enter them into the boxes below (or leave them as 0 to disable Imsanity for that particular section) and set the JPG image quality (90 is the WordPress default). It is a good idea to convert image files to JPG as you want your images to all be the same type and fit within the same margins.

2

Step 4) The next section is the Bulk Resize Images section. Here, you can start a search for images throughout your site, before altering them using the Imsanity feature.

3

Step 5) You should backup your wp-content/uploads folder before searching for images, just in case. At least that way you will have the originals to hand in case something goes wrong or you don’t like how the images turn out. When your images appear in the box below, tick the ones you wish to alter, or click Select All. Then hit the Resize Checked Images button to start the process.

4

Step 6) Once Imsanity has resized your chosen images, they will show up in the box below, with “OK” by the side of the resized images. If for some reason they weren’t able to change any, it will show up in the box with the reason why it hasn’t worked next to it.

5

Step 7) The next step is to head to Media >> Library and chose Images from the Media Library search box, as shown below. This will bring up all your images.

6

Step 8) If you click on any of your images, they will now fit into the dimensions that you inputted in the Imsanity feature. For example, if the dimensions were set at 1024 x 1024, the image below is now set to fit within those dimensions.

7

Step 9) Read up on all Imsanity’s features on the Imsanity settings page at Settings >> Imsanity. You can find out more by clicking on the name of the developer, too (see blue marked link below).
