Tidy Up Links with SEO Ultimate’s Link Mask Generator
The next step in the guide to the SEO Ultimate WordPress plugin takes a look at the Link Mask Generator section of the Plugins features.
Step 1) Login to the WordPress Dashboard.
Step 2) You can find the Link Mask Generator on the left-hand sidebar of the Dashboard, under the plugin marked SEO. Once on the page, you will find a Toolbar that features two options: Aliases and Settings.
Linking masking is a way to link-out to sites without risking your search rankings for doing so repeatedly, by creating alternative links which still go to the page you want to link to. It is similar to a NoFollow, and will not be followed by the search engine crawlers.
The Alias section below is where you add the actual URL, then the Alias URL. You can set them so that they only feature on certain pages of your site, too.
Step 3) On the Settings section of the Toolbar, you will see that there is an Alias Directory for the link masks. In this case, it is go. This is the attribute that sits between the actual link and the alias, e.g. www.wpkb.com/go/www.google.com, which would send you to Google via WPKB. You can edit the Alias Directory to anything you like.
The next step of the guide will focus on Editing Meta Descriptions with SEO Ultimate.
