How to Configure Social Login’s Display and User Settings with WordPress

In this section of the guide to the Social Login plugin, we will show you how to configure the settings for this plugin.

Step 1) Login to the WordPress Dashboard.

Step 2) From the left-hand sidebar of the Dashboard, navigate to Social Login -> Settings.

Step 3) Complete the fields as shown below:

General Settings

The General Settings area is where you can decide whether or not to:

  • Customize the description to be displayed above the Social Login buttons (leave empty for none).
  • Use the default or the small social network buttons.
  • Display the social networks used to connect in the user list of the administration area.
  • Receive an email whenever a new user registers with Social Login.

For this example, the fields were completed as follows:

User Settings

The User Settings area is where you can decide whether or not to:

  • Ask the user to enter their email address (if the user’s social network profile has no email address).
  • Link the user’s Social Network Profile to an existing account (if they have a verified email).
  • Use the user’s default avatar set up in their Social Network Profile.

For this example, the fields were completed as follows:

Comment Settings

The Comment Settings area is where you can decide whether or not to:

  • Show the Social Login buttons in the comment area.
  • Show the Social Login buttons in the comment area if comments are disabled for guests.
  • Automatically approve comments left by users that connected by using Social Login.

For this example, the fields were completed as follows:

Profile Settings

The Profile Settings area is where you can decide whether or not to show the Social Link buttons in the user profile.

Login Page Settings

The Login Page Settings area is where you can decide whether or not to display the Social Login on the form of your blog and where users should be redirected to after logging in with the Social Login on the login page.

For this example, the fields were completed as follows:

Registration Page Settings

The Registration Page Settings area is where you can decide whether or not to display the social network buttons below the registration form (Default) and where users should be redirected to after having registered with Social Login on the registration page.

Widget & Shortcode Settings

The Widget & Shortcode Settings area is where you can:

  • Decide where to redirect users after they have logged in with Social Login embedded by Widget/Shortcode.
  • Decide where to redirect users after they have registered with Social Login embedded by Widget/Shortcode.

For this example, the fields were completed as follows:

Step 4) Click the Save Settings button to save any changes.
