How to Use the BackupBuddy Server Tools – Database Tools
In this section of the guide to the BackupBuddy plugin, we will look at the Server Tools – Database area.
Step 1) Login to the WordPress Dashboard.
Step 2) From the left-hand sidebar of the Dashboard, navigate to BackupBuddy -> Server Tools -> Database.
Below is an overview of each section:
- Database Table
The Database Table section contains information for global defaults, Database Only, Complete and any customized backup profiles (located in the drop-down).
The Database Table display will update depending on the selection made above.
- Advanced: Database Mass Text Replacement
This is an advanced feature.
Use with caution; improper use may result in data loss.
In the Replace text area, enter a string that you want to replace.
When replacing a site address there may be more than one URL.
For example. http://site.com, http://www.site.com, https://site.com, etc.
In the With text area, enter the text to replace with (entered in the above text area).
Any text found matching the above will be replaced with this text.
Everything in the box is considered one match, and may span multiple lines.
In the In Table(s) area, select one of the following options:
- All Tables – which will replace the string above in all tables.
- With Prefix – which will replace the string in all tables starting with selection made. For example, wp_.
- Single – select a single table to replace the string in.
Click the Begin Replacement button to start the replacement process.
Once this process has started it cannot be undone.
Serialized data is handled by this replacement.
Database Table Check
To check a database table for any errors or corruption, hover over the name of a database table and click the Check hyperlink.
The Database Table Check will begin and once complete, display the results for the check as follows:
Database Table Repair
To repair a table that has been corrupted, hover over a database table name and click the Repair hyerplink. Repairs are only needed if the status or check response indicated damage to the table.
