How to Use the BackupBuddy Server Tools – Site Size Maps

In this section of the guide to the BackupBuddy plugin, we will look at the Server Tools – Site Size Maps area.

Step 1) Login to the WordPress Dashboard.

Step 2) From the left-hand sidebar of the Dashboard, navigate to BackupBuddy -> Server Tools -> Site Size Maps.

Below is an overview of this area:

Directory Size Listing

This option displays a comprehensive listing of directories and the corresponding size of all contents within, including sub-directories.

This is useful for finding where space is being used.

This is a CPU Intensive process and may take awhile to load.
This process may even time-out on some servers.

Make your selection from the dropdown list and click the Display Directory Size Listing button to start this process.

For this example, the default value of Global Defaults was selected.

Interactive Graphical Directory Size Map

This option displays an interactive graphical representation of directories and the corresponding size of all contents within, including sub-directories.

This is useful for finding where space is being used.

Directory boxes are scaled based on size.

This is a CPU intensive process and may take a while to load and even time out on some servers. Slower computers may have trouble navigating the interactive map.

Click on a directory box to move around.

Select various options from the dropdown boxes located at the bottom of the page to change the display, such as:

  • Orientation
  • Max. Levels (default value is 3)
