In this section of the WooCommerce WordPress plugin guide, we will show you how to create coupons that customers can use to receive discounts and special offers for the goods you are selling via your ecommerce website…

Step 1) On the Dashboard, scroll down the left-hand sidebar and click on “WooCommerce”, before clicking on “Coupons” from the dropdown that appears. The coupons page consists of a box that shows all of the coupons you have created so far. To create a new coupon, click “Add Coupon” at the top of the page.

Step 2) From the “Add New Coupon” screen, you can add specific codes for each coupon, and add a description of what customers are going to get with their coupons. There is also a section where you can change details for coupon, including General, Usage Restrictions and Limitations.

Step 3) The General coupon options include the type of discount you are creating. This could be a % or set amount of cash from a product, or the entire cart. It is up to you to specify. You can also choose to apply tax before or after the coupon, allow free shipping and create an expiry date for the coupon.

Step 4) The usage restriction options are used to restrict what you can use your coupons for, including particular products, categories and more. You can also set a minimum spend, restrict certain email addresses and much more. You can be as specific or non-specific as you like.

Step 5) The usage limit section is pretty self-explanatory: You can set up a set number of times that coupons can be used per coupon and per user, preventing any over-usage that could cost you money on products.

Step 6) Here is an example of a completed coupon for 10% off a pair of walking boots, using the coupon code 99999, with 10 uses of the coupon available for customers.
