How to Setup a Wordfence Security Scan
In this section of the guide, we focus on setting up a scan with the Wordfence Security WordPress Plugin.
Step 1) Login to the WordPress Dashboard.
Step 2) On the Left-hand sidebar of the Dashboard, choose Wordfence Security and click on Scan to be taken to the scan page.
Step 3) At the top of the page, you will see a blue button with Start a Wordfence Scan written inside. Hit this button to start a scan. It should not slow down your computer when it scans, but it is recommended that you let a scan take its course before you do anything too drastic on your site.
Step 4) When your scan is complete, it will appear in the Scan Summary section underneath the start a scan button.
Step 5) As your scan is taking place, the details will appear in the Scan Detailed Activity box.
Step 6) A useful feature of the Wordfence plugin is logs that they keep. Any new issues that arise from a scan will be shown in the New Issues box below. You can mark these as fixed or ignore them as you go. They will then appear in the Ignored Issues box.
Step 7) The Ignored Issues box comprises of any issues that have been ignored as a result of not being a threat or from being checked by the Admin of the site. You can choose to clear these at any time, or leave them logged so you can check back from time to time to see if there are any patterns in the issues that arise.
