Hello and welcome to the guide to the WP Piwik WordPress plugin, which is a great plugin that is used to view stats for your website by adding a Piwik stats site to your WordPress dashboard. You can also add the Piwik tracking code to your blog.

Step 1) Login to the WordPress Dashboard.

Step 2) On the Dashboard of your website, scroll down the left-hand sidebar and click on Plugins

Step 3) From the Installed Plugins page, click on Add New at the top of the page. Alternatively, click on Add New from the dropdown menu under Plugins on the sidebar.

Step 4) On the Add Plugins page, type in the name of your plugin in the search box on the right hand side, at the top of the page.

Step 5) From the Search Results page, scroll down to your chosen plugin and click the button marked Install Now. If you would like to learn more about your plugin, click the blue link marked More Details

Step 6) The plugin is now installed and unpacked into your website. The last thing to do now is click Activate Plugin

Step 7) Once activated, you will be redirected to the Installed Plugins page. From here, you can read all the info about your plugins, and deactivate and delete it if you no longer need it. Now, to connect to Piwik, click on Settings at the top of the page.

Step 8) On the Settings page (also found from your Admin Panel via Settings >> WP Piwik), you will find yourself on the Connect to Piwik section. Depending on whether you are self-hosted or Cloud hosted, head to the WP Piwik website to get the connection details you need by following the links shown below.

Step 9) Once you have signed up and got your Piwik URL and Authorisation Token, enter them into the boxes shown below and save your details by hitting the Save Changes button.

Step 10) The Expert Settings should only be changed if you know what you are doing, as they do not necessarily need to be touched. However, they include enabling the cache and loading your Piwik tracking code via the CDN.

Step 11) On the Show Statistics section, you can prepare to get the best statistics on your Dashboard. You can also include SEO details (including your rankings) and web stats. Simply tick the boxes shown below.

Step 12) The Enable Tracking section gives you a number of options for adding tracking code. You can do this manually, use the default tracking, JS/Index or the Proxy script.

Step 13) To see all of your Piwik statistics, including Visitors (over the last 40 days), Unique Visitors, Page Views and more, head to Dashboard >> WP Piwik.

This concludes the WordPress plugin guide for WP Piwik.
